There are happy days ahead for a Cecil County resident who became the fourth person in Maryland to win a $1,000 a day for life by playing the “Cash4Life” game.
The lotto player bought the top-prize winning ticket in the Monday, Aug. 29 drawing from the Eagles Nest gas station on Augustine Herman Highway in Chesapeake City.
Once the winning ticket is cashed in, the player will have the choice of $1,000 a day for life paid in annual installments of $365,000; or a one-time cash payment of $7 million, both before taxes.
The winning numbers were 01-02-24-31-51 with a “Cash Ball” of 03.
“Lottery officials strongly encourage the winner to sign the back of the ticket immediately and keep it in a safe location until claiming the prize,” the agency noted.
For selling the lucky ticket, Eagles Nest gas station will also receive a $7,500 bonus from the Lottery.
Officials noted that the top-prize winner wasn’t the only happy “Cash4Life” player in the Aug. 29 drawing, which saw a total of 3,414 Maryland winners of prizes of $2 and up.
The Maryland Lottery began offering Cash4Life in January 2016.
Ten states participate, including Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Maryland, Missouri, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Tennessee.
Maryland’s previous three Cash4Life top-tier winners were:
- A Frederick County Public Schools employee in the May 2, 2016 drawing;
- William Brown of Pikesville in the Aug. 7, 2017 drawing;
- “Bahama Mama” of Salisbury in the Feb. 11, 2020 drawing.
Since the game began in June 2014, Cash4Life has had 61 top-prize winners of $1,000 a day for life and 159 second-tier winners of $1,000 a week for life.
